The WOMEN (Women of Manitoulin Entrepreneur Network) is intended to provide Manitoulin Island Woman business owners or a woman who is looking to maybe start her own business, with networking opportunities, information and education as well as monthly meetings with topics that will provide valuable insight from Manitoulin Women Entrepreneurs and other professionals.

Every time we spend a hard earned dollar on the Manitoulin Island a significant portion of that dollar stays within the community. Studies suggest that a large percentage, potentially two-thirds, of every dollar spent at local businesses remains in the area. This is because local businesses often use their profits to pay local employees, purchase goods and services from other local businesses, and contribute to the community's infrastructure.

I have received the videos from some of the Honorable Ontario Ministers and information has arrived from FedNor and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC). WOMEN has also partnered with @attractionsont to get Manitoulin Island a dedicated spot on their website and a great discounted rate for businesses and townships, all of which will be explained at the conference. @manitoulinwomen has partnered with @attractionsont to be a DMO with them for Manitoulin Island. They have offered a fabulous opportunity for your business to be added to the dedicated Manitoulin Island segment that is being created for $50 (regularly $150) for individual businesses and $200 (regularly $600) for municipalities to list all of their attractions, events. etc. They have sections for
Places to See (such museums, Perivale Gallery etc),
Things to do (example trails, beaches, day fishing),
Events (Such as Haweater Weekend, Ribfest, Home, Cottage & Culinary Show, Art in the Maples,
Food & Drink (for restaurants/foodtrucks).
Accommodations (if you have an accommodation you should be listed!)

Our goal is to get Manitoulin Island businesses, events, attractions etc. listed on the @attractionsont website. For WOMEN entrepreneurs please come out to the 2025 WOMEN Conference to hear all the details. For all other businesses or townships please reach out to me via email at barbara.baker@sumthing.ca for the details on how to get the preferred rate and get your museums, trails, events listed. Any business on Manitoulin Island is eligible for this discount but you need to reach out to me for the details. It is important to collaborate and utilize organizations like Attractions Ontario to get visibility for the fabulous things to do, places to stay, places to eat, events to take part in here on Manitoulin Island. With the current political climate with the United States, Manitoulin Island and region will see a reduced number of American Tourists, that we hope to be able to offset through pulling tourism to the local businesses from Southern Ontario, Canada, and international travellers. The focus/goal of this year’s conference is to provide all the attendees with information on how to start, grow and advertise their businesses and communities as well as some funding information. It will provide an opportunity for the attendees to take part in round tables to give their input/suggestions on topics they would like to see presented at upcoming networking events that will assist them in their businesses.
