2020 Giving will be a Day of Pampering for Women going through chemotherapy. Date in October to be announced!
The 2015 Boobscarf campaign started October 1st. The $2000 donation will go to the Ontario Breast Screening Clinic in Sudbury (the lovely ladies in the photo above are part of the staff of the clinic)- this clinic provided services to at least 750 residents of the Manitoulin during 2014 so a fabulous place for this year’s campaign funds to go.
Thanks again to Manitoulin Transport who was our Corporate Matching partner again this year. The scarves were on sale at the Oct. 17th – Black Tie Pyjama Party Cancer Fundraiser was held at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre.
The first boobscarf campaign in our new location on the Manitoulin was a smashing success. Our goal was to sell 25 boobscarves at $20 each, with Blades & Things matching the $500 and turning it into a $1000. We found a Manitoulin company, Manitoulin Transport, who were willing to be our 2014 corporate matching partner and they will turn our $1000 into a $2,000 donation. We did our sales drive at the Dress for the Cause luncheon on October 26th, 2014.
This year, after having canvassed the Manitoulin Breast Cancer Support group, it was decided that the money will go to the Mindemoya hospital chemotherapy program so people with breast cancer needing chemo treatment don’t have to leave the Island and travel to Sudbury to get their treatment, they can just go to Manitoulin Health Centre – Mindemoya Hospital location.
We would like to thank all those who purchased a boobscarf in 2013. We raised $125 in sales, these sales were matched by mine and my husband Dale’s companies, Blades & Things and $umthing.ca and a donation of $250 was given to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
We donated the money during the matching campaign so $500 was actually given to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association.
